Owners of Scotland's best pub to take over two iconic venues in Kilmarnock

Two iconic Kilmarnock venues will open under new ownership in the coming months.

The Kadikoi Bar and The Memory Lane, both on Bonnyton Road, will be taken over by Mikey Lennon and Gareth Kelly of the King's Arms in Fenwick.

The pair's village boozer was crowned Scotland's best watering hole in September last year.

The duo previously ran Bakers Nightclub in the town, and they are raring to get back into the Killie pub scene.

'The Kadi' is a famous town centre watering hole, especially popular with football fans, and The Memory Lane has always been a hot spot for locals looking for a bar meal.

The Kadikoi will be sticking to its community roots, but The Memory Lane will undergo a refurb and a name change.

New owner Gareth revealed: "So as the the rumour mill has been flying the past few weeks it’s time to announce that myself and Mikey will be taking over the Kadi.

"I thought I would take this opportunity to let regulars and hopefully new clientele know what we intend to be doing to the pub.

"Firstly let me confirm that the Kadi won’t change apart from decor and a bit of an upgrade. It is and will remain a community pub.

"We will be putting on entertainment at weekends and trying to get the place back to a thriving local. We cannot do it ourselves so I am asking that everyone gives it a chance and sees what I hope will be a successful transition.

"The pub revolves around its regulars and I hope that they will all enjoy the effort that we intend to put into it.

"As a result of which I have asked my dad and previous publican Brian to come and run the Kadi on our behalf. Most of you will know that he has plenty of experience in running successful bars in the town."

Gareth added: "Memory lane will be renovated and renamed and has already been leased out to another local boy that’s got an amazing idea for it and that will be announced in due course.

"And lastly happy retirement to Frank, he’s built a great pub and I fully intend to do him proud."
