BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves has sung the praises of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou by detailing three huge reasons as to why the Australian boss is sought-after by Premier League clubs.
Postecoglou arrived as a relative unknown in the Scottish Premiership after a stint in far east Asia with Japanese outfit Yokohama F. Marinos, who he joined after being the Australia manager for almost half a decade. Fans were undoubtedly wary at his appointment, with many asking the question on whether Postecoglou would succeed given how poor Celtic were under Neil Lennon prior to his arrival.
It's fair to say that Postecoglou has proved any doubters wrong. His lavish, fearless style of football regained Celtic the league title at the first time of asking and a Premier Sports Cup to boot; but it isn't just accolades that Hoops fans are grateful for. Recruitment has been almost spot-on, and the feel-good factor has been brought back to Celtic Park in their first Champions League group stage outing for five years. And Hargreaves has picked up on his achievements, stating that his style of football and tactical awareness is a huge coup for someone in the Premier League to look at should the opportunity to hire him arise.
“They go at everyone. Ange Postecoglou and the way he plays with beautiful attacking football, he goes after everyone," Hargreaves told BT Sport.
"He wants to play attacking football, and this is what they do. They’re good in possession, in transition, they’ve got good attacking players. It’s really nice football. He’s playing such good football at Celtic that the Premier League is going to take notice.
"To do it in Europe and the Champions League, people want to do it with style, and that’s what his teams do. They have style which fans love. Celtic fans love it.”
The Hoops dominated in the first half against Real Madrid last week, and were incredibly unlucky not to head into the lead at the interval before the Spanish champions' class showed in a 3-0 win. Meanwhile on Wednesday night in Warsaw, a host of missed chances against Shakhtar Donetsk saw the reigning Premiership champions walk away with just a point against the Ukrainian team.
