Over the Course of Seven Years, KSrelief Provides Urgent Aid in 86 Countries

Relief aid was provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to the Somali people (SPA)

In an inauguration speech for the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) on May 13, 2015, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman said: “Our goal and mission will be to strive to make this Center based on the human dimension, away from any other motives, in cooperation with accredited international relief institutions and organizations.”

“Out of our concern for our brothers in Yemen, and within the framework of the operation for restoring hope, the Center will pay the utmost attention and care to the humanitarian and relief needs of the Yemeni people, who are dear to all of our hearts,” added the monarch about the key initiative of KSrelief.

Since its establishment, KSrelief has aimed to unify government, civil and popular humanitarian and charitable endeavors to help the needy and poor.

In the past seven years, KSrelief has implemented around 2,100 humanitarian projects worth nearly $6 billion in 86 countries.

Projects target a range of vital sectors, including food, education, health, nutrition, water, environmental reforms and accommodation.

Moreover, the Center strategically targets the neediest parts of beneficiary countries, as well as the individuals, regardless of their nationality or geographical location.

In previous decades, before KSrelief was established, forms of relief and humanitarian aid were carried out through direct financial donations to governments of needy countries without considering the vital aspects that needed relief and aid.

The KSrelief’s activities are founded upon noble fundamental humanitarian goals and principles.

Elements needed to carry out the Center’s programs include the detailed monitoring of all aid, the highly coordinated and advanced transportation of aid through highly trusted UN agencies and local and international non-profit organizations in the recipient countries.

Abdul Haq Amiri, director of humanitarian affairs at the United Nations Office in Saudi Arabia, believes that KSrelief represents a great addition to global humanitarian relief work.

According to Amiri, KSrelief’s work comes as an extension to the great and unique efforts spent by Saudi Arabia in the humanitarian field.
