Earlier this week, Glasgow Live revealed the Glaswegian accent has been voted as one of the ‘sexiest’ in the UK, according to dating app, Match.
The match-maker was on a mission to find the UK’s sexiest accent and found that the way we speak when we meet people for the first time can influence how we approach relationships. Their data revealed that one in five singles found accents to be important and with that in mind, Match, which has installed a voice-note feature on the app, asked thousands of singletons which accent they found to be the sexiest in the UK.
Believe it or not, only one Scottish-regional accent made it into the top 10 list. Match’s poll ranked the Glasgow accent at number seven, ahead of Cockney, Brummie and Cornish. Irish topped the list, followed by Northern Irish, Geordie, Welsh, Received Pronunciation (Queen’s English), and Yorkshire.
