More than 1,000 people marched on the Russian embassy yesterday protesting against the war in Ukraine.
They merged with a separate demo held by the Irish Ukrainians who welcomed the “huge support” here since the war began.
Many of the protesters called on the Irish Government to expel the Russian ambassador to Ireland, Yuri Filatov, for “spreading lies” and “ untruths”.
He told Russian TV that protests outside his embassy are “very aggressive” and staff have received death threats.
At the weekend Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney urged people to direct their protests at dictator Vladimir Putin, and not Russians here.
He said: “Under no circumstances should any Russian citizen in Ireland be targeted and certainly not children.”
