Early Monday morning, more than 50 protesters were arrested at a pro-Palestinian encampment on the campus of UC San Diego. The protesters were seen dismantling tents around 7 a.m. local time while chanting 'free, free Palestine!'
Due to the police activity, UC San Diego's West Campus operations were suspended from North Torrey Pines Road to Interstate 5. The school announced that instruction would be moving to remote operation, and all West Campus facilities were closed. However, Housing and Dining services remained open. Any events scheduled for the day on West Campus were advised to be canceled, rescheduled, or shifted to remote operation.
Protesters at the campus questioned the police presence, asking 'why are you in riot gear?' The situation at UC San Diego remains tense as authorities work to manage the ongoing protests.
