Over 22k cops in Madhya Pradesh trained for CPR on DGP Sudhir Saxena's call

BHOPAL: Madya Pradesh police on Saturday organised a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) workshop for police personnel, their family members across all districts and battalions. More than 22,000 policemen learned CPR techniques at more than 250 locations in the state.

Training was organized in all police units including, corps headquarters, health department, Red Cross where doctors of private hospitals cooperated on this initiative taken by DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena.

"CPR is a skill which can make the difference between life and death in critical conditions. All zonal IGs, DIGs, SPs, Commandants and other senior officers took part in the training. I underwent training in Bhopal” DGP Saxena told TOI.

Outdoor cardiac arrests have high mortality as compared to hospitals and houses which is due to unavailability of immediate resuscitation. “Availability of bystander CPR is the key determinant for the survival of any individual. On duty policemen can be the best rescuers if they respond to such situations. They can save lives once trained to respond to emergencies,” said the DGP.

Thousands of police personnel and their family members are being trained by experts from Govt hospitals/private hospitals/red cross etc. It is the first such initiative in MP Police at this scale. DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena was present in the training program organized at Police Line Complex, Nehru Nagar Bhopal.

DGP Saxena said that at the time of any public event or incident-accident, the officers and employees of the police force are the first to be present there as life-savers. By being trained in important first aid procedures like CPR, you can help the victim immediately. If the patient gets CPR in golden time, then definitely his life can be saved. This training program of CPR is a humanitarian effort being done in the interest of policemen and social people. Such programs should be organized from time to time for the general public as well so that everyone can become alert and aware about health protection.

RI Deepak Patil, of Bhopal Police, suffered a cardiac arrest while playing cricket last month. Other policemen gave CPR and got them admitted to the nearby Hospital. During the program, two police constables Sonu Singh and Bhim Singh, who gave CPR to RI Deepak Patil, were awarded citations by DGP.
