Israel strikes Lebanon's Baalbek for first time since start of Gaza war, security sources say

Lebanese authorities reported that at least 41 people have lost their lives and 124 others have been injured due to Israeli attacks in Lebanon within the past day. The government's emergency committee released a report indicating that the total number of attacks on the country has surpassed 10,000, with 146 Israeli strikes occurring in the last 24 hours alone.

The majority of the recent attacks, as highlighted in the report, were concentrated in the southern regions and Nabatiyeh. The situation has led to the establishment of 1,067 centers to accommodate displaced individuals, with 881 of these facilities now operating at full capacity. The number of displaced persons has risen to 188,652, according to data from the National Operations Room.

Furthermore, Lebanese authorities documented the movement of 329,386 Syrian citizens and 126,842 Lebanese citizens crossing from Lebanon into Syrian territory between September 23 and October 15. The impact of the ongoing violence is also evident in the education sector, with approximately 77% of public schools unable to function due to their role as shelters or their direct exposure to the conflict.

Specifically, 40% of public technical education and vocational training students, 57% of Lebanese university students, and 32% of private higher education institutions have been affected by the violence. The situation remains critical as the region grapples with the repercussions of the escalating hostilities.
