Since Hurricane Milton made landfall, a total of 999 individuals and 105 animals have been rescued by Urban Search and Rescue Teams and the Florida National Guard, as reported by Florida Gov. Ron Desantis.
Currently, there are 23 Urban Search and Rescue Teams operating in the state, consisting of more than 1,600 personnel. In addition, there are 10 Swift Water Teams actively deployed to assist in rescue efforts.
The Florida National Guard has mobilized over 6,500 service members to aid in the response to Hurricane Milton. Furthermore, an additional 2,500 service members from other states are expected to join the efforts, according to Gov. DeSantis.
The combined efforts of these search and rescue teams and the National Guard are crucial in providing assistance to those affected by the hurricane and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and animals in impacted areas.
