Obscene graffiti has appeared along a stretch of a popular Nottinghamshire walking route. The graffiti, which appears to be anti-Palestinian, has been spotted along the Nottingham Canal Path near Cossall Road, running between Cossall and Trowell.
It has been reported to Broxtowe Borough Council and labelled as a "hate crime", appearing on signposts, gates and benches on a section of the route. One local residents says they, along with their friends, were "very disturbed" to discover the graffiti while out on a walk.
The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told Nottinghamshire Live: "It is such a shame that people can ruin such a very nice area for people to enjoy a nice quiet country walk in the sun. Plus there has also been anti-social behaviour reported on this trail where youths on very loud motorbikes and quad bikes have been causing a very bad nuisance to the area as well."

A sticker has been put over the graffiti, covering up part of it, reading: "To the person who is so obsessed with Palestine, thanks for bringing it to our attention. Free Palestine." Broxtowe Borough Council says they have been made aware of the graffiti and they have deployed their street cleaning teams to the area to remove it.
A spokesperson for the authority said: "Broxtowe Borough Council have been made aware of the graffiti in this area and our Street Cleansing Team have been deployed to remove the graffiti. Our Neighbourhood Wardens are active in the area and we would ask if anyone does spot any further issues to please report it to our team on 0115 917 7777 or email neighbourd.wardens@broxtowe.gov.uk."
