Outlander star Graham McTavish issues warning to fans as Twitter account hacked

Outlander star Graham McTavish has issued a warning to fans that his Twitter account has been hacked.

The Scottish actor, who recently announced he would be reprising his role as Dougal McKenzie in the hit Starz show alongside Sam Heughan, informed fans of the news today. Graham, 61, warned fans of any potentially unusual activity on his Twitter account was not him.

Sharing a video to Instagram, the Glasgow-born actor captioned it: "Morning/afternoon/evening from me and my twinkly tree. News on my twitter account, plus trying to remember what day it is #twitterhack #interegnum #twinkletime #twitterplustwinkle."

In the video, Graham spoke in front of his stunning Christmas tree and warned fans: "I hope you've had a truly marvellous Christmas and you're enjoying this interregnum period between Christmas and New Year.

"That kind of limbo-land where you actually forget what day it is. I would actually have to think hard to tell you what day today is.

"But the purpose of this, except showing you my twinkly tree is just to let you know that my Twitter account has been hacked - which I'm sure is not unusual at all. It's the first time it's ever happened to me.

"So what it means is, first of all - I'm not currently on Twitter because I'm waiting for them to resolve the issue which they are trying to do. Secondly, goodness knows what is being posted on my Twitter account from whoever this jolly individual is.

"I just wanted to let you know that, and I will let you know when I'm back. In the meantime, have a wonderful, wonderful New Years celebration wherever you are in the world. I certainly intend to and I will speak to you in the New Year."

So far there has been no unusual activity on Graham's account, including no new tweets or likes recently.

Graham isn't the only star who has recently had their Twitter account stolen by a hacker, after broadcaster Piers Morgan was recently locked out of his account. The former Good Morning Britain host fans were left stunned after his Twitter account began sending out abusive messages including a slur against the Queen.

The 57-year-old’s feed also featured a shocking tweet calling Ed Sheeran a “ginger p****” in the early hours of Tuesday morning. It soon became apparent that the TV star’s account had been hacked by a group identifying themselves as the ‘chuckling squad’

One tweet that was sent out caused shock when it simply stated: "f*** the queen."

Outlander seasons 1-6 are available on Starz in the USA and Lionsgate+ via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
