Outlander actor Sam Heughan has revealed his favourite places to grab a drink and eat a good meal in Glasgow.
The Balmaclellan-born actor, who has played Jamie Fraser on the hit Starz show since 2013, declared his love for the best hospitality places in Glasgow. The Love Again actor, 42, appeared on the latest episode of The Scotsman’s food and drink podcast, Scran, and gushed over the hotspots.
Speaking to the publication over a lunch at the Wee Whisky Bar, part of the Ubiquitous Chip on Ashton Lane, he said: “This (the Wee Whisky Bar) is one of my favourite bars in Glasgow. I used to come here a lot with my friends and sit at the best seat, the one in the corner that’s got a whisky barrel for a table.
“This area, Ashton Lane, and Byres Road is great and then the whole Finnieston area is really up and coming. I know Six by Nico are opening one on Byres Road.
He continued: “I do like to bounce between these areas and had a great night out recently when I took my team from Outlander to Gaga on Dumbarton Road to say thank you for all the hard work. The food was incredible and the service was great.
“Then we went to the West Side Tavern, which is a New York style dive bar and then we ended up in The Doublet, which might actually be my new favourite pub. It’s a real old man’s boozer but it’s quite trendy and fun.”
The Scots actor added that his meal at Gaga put it on the list of his top meals of all time.
The seventh season of Outlander is set to air later this year, and the show will be cancelled after the eighth season. The new season is set to air later this year and will pick up with Claire in prison set to hang after being wrongfully accused of witchcraft and the murder of Malva Christie.
It's been announced that the show has been cancelled after the eighth season so that creators can focus on the Outlander prequel Blood Of My Blood. The prequel will focus on the relationship between Jamie's parents Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, but it is unknown whether Sam Heughan or any of the current cast will appear in the series.
