Outlander star Caitriona Balfe has shared an exciting new role with her fans, as she announced her latest silver screen adventure in the form of a new thriller alongside other star-studded cast members such as Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan and Laurence Fishburne.
The new thriller called Amateur tells the story of a CIA cryptographer who embarks on a treacherous mission to take on those who killed his wife in a London terrorist attack after his bosses failed to act.
The 43-year-old Irish actress announced the news on her Instagram, writing to her nearly two million followers: "Very excited to be joining this amazing cast!! This is going to be a fun one."
And it didn't take long for her on-screen lover and off-screen best pal Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser in Outlander, to rush to the post and congratulate her as he penned: "Amazing."
Rami Malek, who won the Best Actor Oscar in 2019 for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in 'Bohemian Rhapsody', will also front as executive producer for the movie.
The latest update was reported by Deadline News, although there are no further details on roles or a filming schedule.
Caitriona Balfe's latest film Belfast was a roaring success, in which she starred alongside Jamie Dornan, which scooped a heap of awards including a Best Original Screenplay Academy Award for Kenneth Branagh.
Meanwhile, Outlander fans are chomping at the bit for the return of its seventh season which will hit screens on Friday, June 16 for an extended set of 16 episodes, which will be split into two parts.
Caitriona previously hinted fans are in for an exciting watch as Droughtlaner ends, telling IrishCentral.com: "It's really epic, expansive. We've opened the world out an awful lot.
"There are amazing characters, new and old. This is the best one we’ve done since season one."
