A brand new Outlander series is set to go into development, detailing the life of Sam Heughan's characters' family life before the popular original series began.
Starz announced the exciting news on their social media accounts today, writing on Instagram: "The #Outlander universe is expanding! Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a prequel that will follow the love story of Jamie Fraser’s parents, is officially in development at STARZ."

The story will go into what life was like for baby Jamie Fraser, Scottish Sam's onscreen character, and it was safe to say that fans were excited following the announcement. One Instagram user wrote: "I feel a new obsession coming on…"
Another said: "Insert high pitched squeal!"
And a third wrote: "I am smelling another masterpiece."
More comments read: "Ohhh yessss can't wait ! loving the Outlander universe."
While others said: "eeeekkkkk SO EXCITED!!"
Further comments wrote: "Great!!! But we need Outlander S8!!"
Finally, one concluded: "Wao. Back to Scotland!"
The prequel is currently in development in Starz. Outlander season seven is also currently being filmed across Scotland and various other locations.
