Outlander fans couldn't contain their excitement today as the official season seven trailer dropped on social media. The countdown is on until June 16, when the first episode of the seventh series airs - and it's set to be bigger and better than ever.
The 16-episode season will be split into two parts, with the first half premiering in June and the second half airing in 2024. Since season six was shortened to only eight episodes, season 7 is making up for that and, with a double dose.
And today the official trailer dropped sending fans into a frenzy. Alongside the video, Starz wrote: "A love this great is worth fighting for. The phenomenon returns when #Outlander premieres June 16 on STARZ."
Before the clip Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan can be seen talking to the camera. They said: "The official outlander season seven trailer is here at last. Please enjoy and mark your calendar. Another incredible season is coming your way soon."
The clip begins with Jamie and Claire hugging before Jamie heads off to fight, Claire says: "Come back to me, you always do." Ave Maria plays in the background as the people of Fraser's Ridge walk through the aftermath of the war and a coffin can then be seen.
Then various clips flash from what's to come and in some stand out clips, Claire has a noose around her neck, Jamie hands her to a gem and says it's for her to "go back" should he be killed', there's hints of a blaze and then Jamie lies on the ground covered in blood.
But fans flocked to the comments to say that the trailer was 'phenomenal'. One fan said: "Full chills, shaking, crying!!! I cannot wait this season is going to be one of the most epic yet I can feel it. And I’m gearing up for some more set design inspo!"
Another said: "Absolutely incredible!!! The hold this series has on me will be lifelong! This gave me chills." While one penned: "OMG, take your breath away."
And another commented: "That was so much better than I could’ve hoped for! Cannot wait for S7." A fellow fan said: " I feel like it’s going to be an emotional roller coaster this season."
