***CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR OUTER BANKS SEASON THREE***
Outer Banks season three had everyone on their edge of the seats - as the Pogues battled for their biggest treasure yet.
The Netflix show's third season dropped on the streaming service on Thursday February 23rd, as fans rushed to find out what the Pogues would have to face this time around on the hunt for the gold.
In the first and second series, they had been following a quest to find the Royal Merchant and the Cross of Santo Domingo, before setting their sights on El Dorado.
El Dorado, a city of gold, had remained hidden for over 500 years as treasure hunters from all over the world searched for the missing treasure, with this series' villain Carlos Singh also desperate to fulfil his 'legacy' and locate the gold too.
Their adventures this time around saw them begin their journey on an island after jumping off a ship into the ocean at the end of season two. Nicknaming it Poguelandia, the Pogues - John B, Sarah, JJ, Kiara, Pope and Cleo - decided to make the best of what they had before a plane came to rescue them from their own island but with some huge consequences.
With Kiara kidnapped by evil Carlos Singh, the Pogues made it their mission to get her back, but they had to get through Singh's guards first, who would go to any length to protect their boss and help him find the treasure.
John B (Chase Stokes) was also on a mission to find his dad Big John, convinced he must still be alive despite him disappearing and presumed dead. An unlikely reunion between the pair only fired up their treasure hunt.
Elsewhere, romantic feelings were clearly brewing between the Pogues - who had quickly thrown away their original 'no Pogue on Pogue macking rule' - as John B and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) went from strength to strength. Apart from a little hiccup when Sarah kissed her ex-boyfriend Topper (Austin North), the couple's romance was clearly blossoming.
A fan favourite pairing, JJ (Rudy Pankow) and Kiara (Madison Bailey) finally confessed their feelings to one another this season after he rescued her from a 'correction camp' her parents had sent her to whilst it also looks like there might be love in the air going forward for Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) as they bonded even more in season three.
Ward's (Charles Esten) plan to take down the Pogues continued, with the support of his son Rafe Cameron (Drew Starkey).
The final part of their treasure hunt took the Pogues to South America in a bid to find El Dorado. With Big John alongside them, John B and Sarah made it their mission to rescue his father and find the big prize.
Hot on the trail too, Singh was adamant he would take them down and after a tense gun showdown in the jungle, Ward jumped in front of the shower of bullets to save his daughter Sarah and fell off a cliff to his death.
Big John suffered a similar fate, having been injured in an earlier fight before he succumbed to his injuries but not before finding out his son had been successful in finding the lost city of gold and completing his own life's work.
As the third season wrapped up, it skipped to 18 months later where we found out what the Pogues had done with their new found fame and riches. It was confirmed Pope was back at school whilst Kiara was saving turtles, just as it had always been her dream to do, JJ had managed to buy the charter boat, and Sarah and John B were the proud owners of a surf shop.
However, as they celebrated their success with the city, they were approached by an old man who said he needed their help.
Handing them a 300-year-old captain’s log, the man confirmed that it belonged to Edward Teach, also known as Blackbeard. His lost treasure is still not found today, and it is believed he passed away during a battle in the Outer Banks in 1718.
With the Pogues accepting their next mission, and the treasure being 'lost' for so long, it is likely they will encounter some huge villains on their quest to find one of the biggest value of treasures yet.
