A dog bit three people after its owner allowed it to run wild in an industrial estate. David Sumner, 42, from Merseyside, appeared before court on Thursday, May 11, and admitted having a dog dangerously out of control, reports North Wales Live.
He also confessed to the charge of common assault during the incident on October 1, 2022. Prosecutor Julia Galston explained how Sumner was at the Industrial Estate with his two Caucasian Shepherds when cops were alerted to the fact that the dogs were running loose.
Cops were told that one of them animals had already bitten several people. The court heard how Thomas Graham was on his morning run when the barking female dog "cornered him" before he was bitten on the arm.
A second man, John Main, was walking to work when the dogs ran past and he fell over. He was not bitten but instead hit some railings and this caused an arm injury.
A mum who had just dropped her child off for a martial arts session at the estate when she was bitten on the hip by the female dog, and jumped into her motor to "scream for help." Marek Midura, tried to defend her own small dog when she was bitten "a number of times" on the arm.
Sumner then arrived and put his dogs into a van with help from a man who was not named. The court heard that Ms Midura had a "clear liquid" thrown at her from a bottle as she tried to photograph the defendant's van.
Aferwards, both dogs were held in police custody, the magistrates heard. The female remains under assessment by police and the male has been rehomed, the court heard.
Keith Webster, defending Sumner, appealed for the court to postpone their sentencing and order a report into the defendant's background be completed. Sumner was told he'd be back in the dock next month for sentencing.
