One of Newcastle's traditional free fireworks displays will not go ahead this year, the city council has confirmed.
Ouseburn Fireworks, usually held in the City Stadium park close to Heaton, Shieldfield, and Ouseburn, on bonfire night had been running for over 30 years but was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Some listings have claimed the event - which has attracted thousands of families to the City Stadium bowl off Warwick Street and has been hailed as the city's biggest free display - would return on Saturday November 5, 2022.

But Newcastle City Council confirmed to ChronicleLive that it is not going ahead in 2022.
"We have received confirmation from the Ouseburn Community Group that they are not hosting a firework event this year," a council spokesperson said.
Segedumum Fort in Wallsend will hold a free-to-enter fireworks display on Saturday which starts at 6.30pm. Donations are welcome and Wallsend Metro Station is nearby.
There are also displays planned for Saturday in Broadway West Playing Fields in Gosforth along with Novocastrian Rugby Club and Blue Flames Sports Clubs, both in Benton. Entry fees apply.
