KOLKATA: Jyothi Surekha Vennam, who had little knowledge of archery when she picked up the bow in 2007, found her habits coming handy as she grew from strength to strength in the sport. "By nature I am quiet and that helps me handle pressure situations at the international stage better," Jyothi told TOI from Paris where she is preparing for the fourth and last stage of the World Cup scheduled next week.
The Indian women's compound team of Jyothi, Aditi Swami and Parneet Kaur, which created history by winning the country's first ever World Championship team gold in Berlin last week, is one of the youngest in World Archery now with Jyothi being the oldest at 27 years. "We enjoy each other's company. Our success shows that age is just a number."
