Today thousands of Muslims in Liverpool will begin their first full day of fasting for Ramadan as the sacred month begins. They will join almost two billion others across the globe observing the holy month through fasting, prayer and charity.

'Giving gets me through Ramadan'
Reporter Elliot Ryder spoke to Hanan Yafal of the Coffee Lodge on Lodge Lane about her Ramadan. Hanan opened the business with her husband Abdul eight years ago and said the month is about giving: "that's what gets me through Ramadan."
"When you feed a fasting person, you gain that reward."
Shock as Just Eat cuts 1,700 roles
A rider for Just Eat "doesn't know what's in store for the future" after he was told he will lose his job. The man is one of 1,700 across the country who were told on Tuesday about the company's plans to lay them off.
He told Olivia Williams: "It had so many perks to the job, but unfortunately it wasn't supposed to last."
