Our Liverpool: Merseyside pays tribute to 'true queen' Scouse nan

Hello and welcome to this afternoon's instalment of Our Liverpool.

This handy round-up showcases the best of ECHO content so you'll never have to miss the most important talking points on Merseyside

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I was lucky enough to be down at Coventry's CBS Arena to watch the England Lionesses triumph over Italy, and I'm hoping England's Under-23s will be able to put in a similarly impressive display when they take on Belgium at Prenton Park this evening.

If like me, you have had a busy weekend you may not have had the opportunity to see all of the ECHO's stories from over Saturday and Sunday, so I'd like to share with you some of the excellent work our journalists have produced over the last couple of days.

'True queen' nan

A "true queen" and Liverpool "legend" who died was described as the "glue" that kept her family together.

Eleanor 'Nellie' Dougherty's dream came true when she made ECHO headlines last year ahead of her 91st birthday when it was revealed she had over 150 family members. Nellie had long-joked with her family that she had the biggest family tree in Merseyside, including a staggering 93 great-grandchildren. You can ready the full story here.

700-year-old market

Traders at a 700 year old market in Merseyside consider themselves a "dying breed".

Earlestown market has been one of the sparks keeping the small town alive in recent years, with people flocking into the historic town square every Friday morning. The market is among the oldest in the country, with roots that can be traced back over 700 years. You can read the full story here.

Lost nightclubs

Whatever kind of night out you're after, you're likely to find it in Liverpool.

The city is known for its popular nightclubs and bars - many of which have stood the test of time. But over the years, we have said goodbye to a number of staple venues. To reminisce, our nostalgia team have put together a quiz to test your knowledge on some Liverpool venues that have been lost to time. You can read the full story here.
