Crowds have been gathering in town as King Charles and Queen-Consort Camilla visit the city this afternoon. Their Royal Highnesses have been on a trip first to the M&S Arena, where they revealed the staging for Eurovision this year.
Then at Liverpool Central Library they are due to officially mark the twinning of the library with Ukraine's first public library, the Regional Scientific Library in Odesa. Our reporters Olivia Williams and Patrick Edrich are at the library awaiting their arrival.

Paul Russell to be given new identity after helping Thomas Cashman
The man who helped Thomas Cashman as he tried to cover up the murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, 9, will be given a new identity after being sentenced to 22 months in prison. Paul Russell, 41, was sentenced today after he pleaded guilty to assisting an offender after he helped Cashman dispose of the clothes he wore during the shooting of Olivia.
Mum's tribute to son who died aged 33
A mum who was once warned by doctors her baby would "not live to see three weeks" has paid tribute after he defied the odds. Barend James Cox - affectionately known as "BJ the DJ due to his love of music and singing - died aged 33 on Wednesday years after his parents were told to plan his funeral as a newborn.
Dad found dead after being passed 'from pillar to post'
A dad who "would do anything for you" was found dead in the back of his lorry after he was "passed from pullar to post" as he tried to get help. Drew Howe, 26 when he died, always "seemed dead bubbly" according to his sister Keata as she spoke at his inquest.
