Applause has poured in after a footballer was kept alive by an opposition player and a heart specialist who just happened to be passing when he suffered a cardiac arrest while playing for his team. John Harkin, 35, was playing for Old Xaverians FC against Larkin FC in Childwall when he suffered the cardiac arrest.
John's heart stopped for 28 minutes, before he was revived with the help of a defibrillator and taken to the Royal. His family was later called and told to say their goodbyes as "it could be it."

However John pulled through and he was even able to attend the reverse fixture to thank the opposition player for saving his life.
