Our House series 2 shut down by Martin Compston ahead of jaw-dropping finale on ITV

Martin Compston poured cold water on hopes for a second series of Our House right before the gripping new thriller aired its final episode.

Viewers expectations for the new four part ITV drama were left sky high, thanks to a series of preview adverts that teased its arrival, weeks before it actually made its debut on Monday, March 7.

Our House is based on the book of the same name by Northumberland born author Louise Candlish and is centered on the turbulent marriage of Fi and Bram, with Martin's on-screen wife played by Tuppence Middleton.

The rug is well and truly pulled from under Fi when she arrives home to pick up her lap top, only to find strangers moving into the house, with her anxiety added to by the fact that she can't get in touch with Bram.

Over the first three episodes of Our House on ITV, viewers have been given a real insight into Fi and Bram's troubled relationship, triggered by the fact she found him having sex with a neighbour in their children's play house and them agreeing to each split their time between their dream home and a shared flat.

As each episode moves from past to present, more plot twists were exposed.

*SPOILER ALERT* The biggest one is the fact that it was actually Bram himself who OK'd the sale of the house after being blackmailed over his involvement in a fatal road crash.

And one of the people holding him to ransom was none other than Mike, the man Fi believed to be her knight in shining armour new love interest Toby.

While all four episodes of Our House have been available to binge on the ITVHub since Monday, we won't ruin the ending for anyone who hasn't watched it yet.

Will there be Our House series 2?

It doesn't sound like they were be any more to come.

Speaking to RadioTimes about Our House's future, Line of Duty favourite Martin said: "I think there's something really appealing in that as an actor, you know, where we just knew this is a one-off, and we're all in and then it's done.

"There's something really exciting about that as well because you're not going to get a second chance to address everything that goes wrong in the first, so you're really committed."

At the start of the week, Martin hinted that Our House would be a 'stressful' watch, when he tweeted: "‘Our House’ starts tonight on @ITV @9PM. 4 episodes across the next 4 nights.

"Probably best to get over in a week with the stress that’s coming."
