A man described by his grieving family as a 'kind and caring' dad has died almost a month after he was hit by a car in an early-hours collision, police have revealed.
Tributes have been paid to Andy Morris, who was 46 and from the Stockport area of Greater Manchester.
Police said Andy, a pedestrian at the time, was struck by what they called an 'unknown vehicle' on the A6 Buxton Road in the Great Moor area of Stockport at around 3.20am on February 18. He was taken critically injured to hospital from the scene as an investigation was launched and road closure enforced.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed on Tuesday that sadly, Andy passed away from his injuries in hospital on March 14. The news has only just been revealed.
Three people, however, were later arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, the force added. All three remain on police bail.
In a statement released through GMP, his family spoke lovingly of Andy's 'infectious' laugh, his jokes, singing and magic tricks he would perform. They said: "In loving memory of Andy, who was sadly taken away too soon. Andy was a loving father, son, brother and friend.
"Our hearts will be forever broken not having you in our lives. Your infectious laugh, joke telling, singing (well, debatable singing that is!) and magic tricks will forever be with us all.
"You will be sadly missed by everyone. Your kind and caring nature will be forever imprinted in those you came into contact with. All our love forever. God bless x."
GMP added: "A pedestrian who was in collision with a car in Stockport has sadly died. Andy Morris, 46, who was from Stockport, was struck by an unknown vehicle on the northbound A6 in Great Moor at around 3.20am on 18 February 2023.
"He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with multiple injuries. He spent almost a month in hospital but sadly died on 14 March 2023.
"Three people arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and causing serious injury by dangerous driving have been released on bail pending further enquiries." No further details have been revealed.
