Our friends at Tom's Guide are upgrading: Here's what it means, and how our sister site's overhaul affects Windows Central

Tom's Guide homepage with new layout for 2026.

Windows Central has been part of Future PLC since 2019, putting us in great company alongside giants like Tom's Guide, which covers an incredibly broad range of consumer tech, beyond even our specialty in Microsoft, Windows, and Xbox. If you've ever followed product launches from other companies, then you'd undoubtedly seen coverage led by the Tom's Guide team of experts.

Today, Tom's Guide has launched the most significant redesign in its history, promising a focus on "connecting you with the experts and information you need to upgrade your life". The most obvious change appears on its front page, which now looks completely different, featuring a dedicated feed of quick insights, live from those same experts.

You'll also have instant access to "quick takes" as vertical videos pulled from the Tom's Guide TikTok, with digestible insights into the latest tech and excerpts from recent interviews. Pair that with shopping advice and a new "Leap-O-Meter" tool that scores how much you'd benefit from upgrading your tech to a new model, and it's clear that the team wants to help you spend wisely.

For this Windows Central community, the continued shared insights between sister sites like Tom's Guide will grow even stronger, as it digs deeper into devices that directly rival the Windows PC and Xbox hardware we cover. In that, content like expert Q&A sessions at Tom's Guide will benefit its existing audience and also give us an expanded, trustworthy source for comparisons.

The new Tom’s Guide is about helping you save time and make better decisions.

Mark Spoonauer, Tom's Guide Global Editor-in-Chief

The TL;DR is: Everybody wins from this overhaul. Anything that genuinely helps a Tom's Guide reader can be shared with us at Windows Central, and vice versa. If you're ever debating a purchase on tech that exists outside of Microsoft's ecosystem, you could probably bet that Tom's Guide has covered it in one form or another, and its leveled-up shopping tools will help you find the best price.
