Oti Mabuse has landed a presenting gig for a new quiz show after her first hosting gig was axed.
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional will be fronting a new quiz show called The Tower, with a pilot being filmed soon in the hope a broadcaster will pick it up. It comes after Oti's Romeo and Duet show was axed after one season.
Romeo and Duet was a dating show with a singing twist, but ITV bosses confirmed it had been axed after just one series, amid reports of low ratings for the show. The new quiz show will test "general knowledge, strategic thinking and judgement".
"The feeling was that it wasn’t a case of Oti not being right for the show, more that the show wasn’t right for Oti," a source told The Sun of the new series, which is being worked on by the team behind Channel 4 's Escape To The Chateau.
"We’ve seen on The Masked Dancer just how her infectious energy and humour works best in a less-scripted, more conversational setting. As host of a quiz show, Oti will have the chance to banter with contestants as well as use her presence to hold the show together. Everyone is very excited about The Tower."
The Tower is described as a quiz show with a twist, which tests "general knowledge, strategic thinking and judgement".
A post looking for contestants revealed: "Star of Strictly, Dancing On Ice and The Masked Dancer Oti Mabuse is looking for outgoing, lively and knowledgeable teams of two to be part of a TV quiz show first — The Tower.
"Set in a unique world, your general knowledge, strategic thinking and judgement will be tested to the max in this exciting new game. Teams of friends, family, colleagues or partners battle to win a cash prize. Be part of something extraordinary."
An ITV spokesperson previously confirmed there were "no plans for future series of Romeo & Duet".
"We have no plans for future series of Romeo & Duet at present. But we look forward to working with Oti again on The Masked Dancer later this year and are actively discussing other projects going forward," the spokesperson said.
Oti can currently be seen on The Masked Dancer, ahead of Strictly Come Dancing's launch kicking off in two weekends' time.
