Dive in below for all the excitement and essential details about this year's Oscars ceremony.
Where will the 2024 Oscars be held?
The 2024 Academy Awards are set for Sunday, March 10 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
This marks the third consecutive year that the event has shifted to March from it’s previous February schedule.
Who will host the 2024 Oscars?
American late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel returns for his fourth stint as Oscars host, having most recently helmed the event last year.
However, Kimmel most notably hosted the cinematic event in 2017 when La La Land was mistakenly declared the Best Picture instead of the rightful winner, Moonlight.
Who will present prizes at the 2024 Oscars?
The lineup of presenters includes last year's acting Oscar winners: Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis along with Brendan Fraser.
Joining them are esteemed actors who have previously won Academy Awards, such as Mahershala Ali, Regina King, Jennifer Lawrence, Rita Moreno, Matthew McConaughey, and Lupita Nyong’o.
Also gracing the stage will be Bad Bunny, Dwayne Johnson, Kate McKinnon, John Mulaney, Ramy Youssef, Zendaya, Steven Spielberg, Melissa McCarthy, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sally Field, and Issa Rae.
Who will perform at the 2024 Oscars?
The 2024 Oscars will feature live performances from each of this year's Best Original Song nominees.
In addition to his presenting role, Ryan Gosling will perform, I’m Just Ken, from the movie Barbie with Mark Ronson on the night, much to fans’ delight while Billie Eilish, who is the bookies’ favourite, will sing What Was I Made For from the same film.
Viewers can also expect to Becky G, Jon Baptiste, Scott George and The Osage Singers to perform, too.
The latter act, which lent its voices to the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, will be the first Indigenous Americans to sing at the Oscars.
Who are the frontrunners?
Oppenheimer is the frontrunner to win Best Picture, having secured top honours at the Golden Globe Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, BAFTAs, and Producers Guild of America Awards.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph looks poised to clinch the Best Supporting Actress award for her poignant portrayal in The Holdovers, having already won a Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice Award, BAFTA, and Screen Actors Guild Award.
Although the other acting categories remain less certain, Cillian Murphy for Best Actor, Lily Gladstone for Best Actress, and Robert Downey Jr. for Best Supporting Actor are considered the bookies favourites.
Gladstone’s potential win would mark a historic moment as the first Native American to secure a competitive acting Oscar - but she’ll have to face off stiff competition from Emma Stone for her role in Poor Things.
