HYDERABAD: With just a day left for the festival of colours, the demand for organic colours is high in Hyderabad as vendors see that colours made of vegetable dyes and flower wastes are leaving the shelves quickly.
After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, Holi makes an eco-conscious return in the city as citizens keep away from synthetic colours. Hyderabad-based organisation Holy Waste pioneered the idea of making non-toxic colors. Holy Waste collects discarded flowers from temples and wedding venues to prepare the colour powder. “Consumers turned eco-conscious after pandemic. Interestingly, we have run out of stock,” Holy Waste co-founder Maya Vikram said.
