Orel Mangala sends Nottingham Forest message after transfer confirmed

New Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala has taken to social media to react after his move to the club was confirmed.

The Belgian international has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at the City Ground after a fee was agreed with Bundesliga club Stuttgart. The midfielder could make his debut in this weekend’s opening Premier League game of the season against Newcastle United.

It is believed that Forest paid a fee of around £13.7 million for Mangala. He becomes the 12th new arrival of the summer transfer window as Steve Cooper continues to shape his squad ahead of the Premier League season.

The 24-year-old has spent the last five seasons with Stuttgart after joining from Anderlecht in the summer of 2017. He made a total of 29 appearances for the club last season, scoring four goals and providing a further four assists.

Mangala has also taken part in pre-season games for the Bundesliga club meaning that he should be up to speed with his fitness ahead of the new season. After confirmation of his transfer, the midfielder took to social media to give his reaction.

“I am Red,” he wrote on Instagram. “Very proud to join this mythical club, can't wait to meet our fans and start this journey with my new teammates.

“Thank you @m.soccermanagement with who I’ve be working six years for making it happen.”

The signing of Mangala will boost Cooper’s midfield options ahead of the new season, with fellow summer signing Lewis O’Brien having already been bought in the position. Ryan Yates, Harry Arter, Jack Colback, Braian Ojeda and Cafu will also provide competition in the middle of the pitch.
