Oregon has solidified its position as the No. 1 team in college football, topping The Associated Press poll for the third consecutive week. Following a decisive 21-point victory over Michigan, the Ducks received a unanimous vote for the first time this season. Georgia maintained its No. 2 ranking after a hard-fought win against Florida, despite quarterback Carson Beck's three interceptions. Ohio State moved up to No. 3 after defeating Penn State, extending their winning streak in the series to eight games.

Miami and Texas climbed to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, with Penn State dropping to No. 6 after being in the top five for the previous four polls. The College Football Playoff's expansion to 12 teams this season means that losses by top-ranked teams may not be as detrimental to their championship aspirations.

Tennessee held onto the No. 7 spot after a challenging victory over Kentucky, while Indiana surged to No. 8, their highest ranking since 2020. BYU and Notre Dame maintained their positions at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. SMU made the biggest leap, rising from No. 20 to No. 13 after a convincing win over Pittsburgh.

Clemson and Iowa State suffered significant drops in the rankings after home losses, falling to No. 19 and No. 17, respectively. Army reached its highest ranking since 1960 at No. 18, while Boise State achieved its best ranking since 2011 at No. 12. Indiana surpassed Notre Dame in the rankings for the first time since 1979.

Vanderbilt returned to the poll at No. 24 after defeating Auburn, while Louisville re-entered at No. 25 following an upset win over Clemson. Illinois' seven-week run in the Top 25 came to an end, and Missouri dropped out after a bye week.

The SEC led all conferences with eight ranked teams, followed by the ACC with five, the Big Ten and Big 12 with four each, and one representative each from the AAC, Mountain West, Pac-12, and Independent category.

Upcoming matchups between ranked teams include Georgia facing Mississippi and Alabama taking on LSU. Both games are highly anticipated after recent performances by the teams.
