The Computer and Internet Club for senior citizens, also known as the Oppy Club, is celebrating its 23rd anniversary. The club is adding new courses and activities to support elderly digital lifestyles as part of the celebration.
Oppy Club, or Old People Playing Young, is a gathering place for seniors who aim to live happily, offering courses and activities suitable for their lifestyles in the digital age. The focus is on creating a balance for quality living to support the growing longevity of society.
Suteera Chamlongsuphaluck, the principal of Oppy Club, said that the club was founded on Jan 25, 2000. She said: "Throughout 23 years, the Oppy Club has adapted to changing technology trends by expanding its curriculum to meet the needs of the elderly. The club has expanded its curriculum to include digital photography, nature surfing, and teaching the use of tablets and smartphones."
This year the Oppy Club is undergoing a facelift and expanding its space to be more conducive for the elderly. The new activities will balance technology with non-IT activities, including travel photography, painting, and singing.
Ms Suteera said: "The Oppy Club keeps pace with changing technology trends, in line with the behaviour of the high-tech-hearted seniors in this era. Our goal is to provide technical knowledge to the elderly and organise activities to create happiness and balance in the digital age and improve the quality of life for our members."
