The recent revelations about Peter Mandelson’s relationship with the notorious paedophile Jeffrey Epstein have rightly shocked the British public. But what has appalled me even more is how people — like Sir Keir Starmer and Wes Streeting — have claimed that they have been surprised by the depth of the friendship between Epstein and Mandelson.
