Palisades Fire arson trial begins as prosecutors detail alleged motive

Prosecutors in the federal trial for the man accused of starting last year’s deadly Palisades Fire presented a narrative to jurors on Wednesday, characterizing him as a premeditated arsonist who attempted to cover his tracks.

Defense attorneys, however, for 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht, who has pleaded not guilty, asserted that their client actively tried his best to stop the blaze.
