OpenAI is shutting down its AI browser — here's how to get its best features in Google Chrome

Person working on their Mac.

OpenAI has officially called time on Atlas, its ambitious standalone AI web browser. But while the browser itself is being sunset, the core technology that made it special isn't disappearing. Instead, the company is decoupling its most powerful browsing features and porting them directly into ChatGPT and a brand-new Google Chrome extension.

This pivot is great news if you never got around to trying Atlas — or if you simply couldn't justify abandoning your carefully curated tabs and extensions to switch to a whole new browser. You no longer have to compromise your workflow to get deep AI integration.
