YouTuber George Bryan has reached Final Qualifying for The Open after an eventful day of regional qualifiers in the UK and Ireland.
The American, who hosts the Bryan Bros YouTube channel with his brother, Wesley, finished tied at the top of the leaderboard at the Hesketh qualifier alongside amateur Abel Eduard after both shot three under.
That takes Bryan one big step closer not only to a maiden Open appearance, but his first at a Major.
As a result of his success, Bryan now has just over a week to prepare for a grueling 36-hole qualifier to determine if he will be able to go all the way and secure his spot at Royal Birkdale.
While there was delight for Bryan, for other famous YouTube stars, notably Peter Finch and Rick Shiels, their challenges weren't as successful.
Finch made it to Final Qualifying a year ago, but this time, he narrowly missed out after finishing two over at Lindrick.
Shiels also came up short, carding a four-over 76 at Caldy.
Other famous faces in the qualifiers included former Premier League soccer stars Jimmy Bullard and Peter Odemwingie, who is now a PGA professional.
Bullard shot a one-over 72 at Rochester and Cobham Park to miss out, while Odemwingie can chalk it up to a bad day at the office after a 12-over 84 at Enville.
Elsewhere, pros advancing to Final Qualifying include Robert Rock, who came through a playoff at Enville, and three-time Challenge Tour winner Robert Dinwiddie, who finished two under at North Hants.
Two Golf Monthly staffers were also involved and gave excellent accounts of themselves before ultimately coming up short.
Joe Ferguson shot a one-over 73 at Minchinhampton before placing T35, while Sam De'Ath finished with an even-par 70 at North Hants to place T13 and make the reserve list.
After a long day, 124 players advance to Final Qualifying, all of whom are listed below.

Live updates from...
WELCOME!
Welcome to our coverage of a big day for over 2,000 golfers - The Open Regional Qualifying. It is taking place across 16 venues as pros, amateurs and celebrities aim to make it to Final Qualifying for the chance of a spot at Royal Birkdale.
I'll be take you through the action from now until the end of the day, so stay tuned to find out who makes it, who misses out, and the other stories that develop as we go on.
ROCK SOLID
One notable player who has already completed his 18 holes is Robert Rock. The Englishman last played in The Open in 2019, but he set a competitive score of -4 at Enville.
That currently leaves him third. We'll know a little later whether it's likely to be enough with the number of places available confirmed after everyone has teed off in about 90 minutes or so.
FOLLOW FINCH
Over at Lindrick Golf Club, YouTuber Peter Finch is competing. His team is following his progress on X, too.
He was even thru 6, where Samuel Potter has the clubhouse lead at -4.
Uncharacteristic error with the putter on the par 3 sixth. After finding the centre of the green (again!) a really rogue first putt leaves a lot of work for the second. A sigh of relief when it finds the bottom of the cup for par 😮💨E thru 6 pic.twitter.com/RLJCB4J3SzJune 22, 2026
KIM IN THE CLUBHOUSE
Kris Kim made headlines back in 2024 when he made the cut at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in his maiden PGA Tour event at the age of 16.
He was competing at Bearwood Lakes today, where he carded a one-under 71 to currently stand in a tie for second.
GOLF MONTHLY REPRESENTED
Among the pros, celebs and various other notable names playing today are two of Golf Monthly's very own staffers - Joe Ferguson and Sam De'Ath.
Joe was playing at Minchinhampton, where he shot a one-over 73. Sam's currently on the course at North Hants. More on his progress as we have it.
ROLLING BACK THE YEARS
Those with long memories may recall Zane Scotland qualifying for the 1999 Open at Carnoustie.
He was just 16 at the time, and he remains the youngest English golfer to qualify for The Open.
Now aged 43, he was playing at Rochester & Cobham Park earlier, where he carded a three-under 68 to sit T4.
Scotland is looking for his third Open appearance, having also playing in 2010.
FAMOUS FACES...
There are plenty of famous faces playing today, not least YouTubers George Bryan and Rick Shiels, and former Premier League soccer player Jimmy Bullard. They're now up and running so I'll have more on their progress later...
Three familiar faces. One Open dream.George Bryan, Rick Shiels and Jimmy Bullard are among the players now under way in Regional Qualifying.Follow along on our live blog.https://t.co/K4fwKEbBkQ pic.twitter.com/qijAtaOGh5June 22, 2026
FORMER AMATEUR CHAMPION IN THE HUNT
A decade ago, Scott Gregory shot to prominence when he beat Robert MacIntyre at The Amateur Championship. The got him into The Open, where he missed the cut, and he's not played there since.
We know MacIntyre will be at Royal Birkdale, but can Gregory move a step closer to joining him? He's finished one under at North Hants. We'll know in due course whether it's enough to get to Final Qualifying.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR QUALIFIERS
A reminder that today's qualifiers only determine who makes it the Final Qualifying, where Open spots will be earned. That's going to take place on June 30th. A bit like US Open Final Qualifying, it will take place over 36 holes (rather than today's 18).
The Final Qualifying venues will be Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire.
REGIONAL QUALIFYING VENUES
A year ago, 15 venues were used for regional qualifying, but that's up to 16 this year. Here is the list:
Bearwood Lakes, Caldy, Chart Hills, Craigielaw, Enville, Ferndown, Fulford, Gog Magog, Hesketh, Kilmarknock (Barassie), Lindrick, Minchinhampton, Moor Park, North Hants, Rochester & Cobham Park and The Island.
WALKER CUP STAR SHINES
James Ashfield represented GB&I at the 2023 Walker Cup, and he could be a step closer to another big event after a one-under 71 at Caldy. That leaves him with the clubhouse lead as Final Qualifying beckons.
NOT ENOUGH FOR FRYER
YouTuber and PGA professional Matt Fryer was trying to qualify at Hesketh, but he hasn't done enough. He shot an eight over 79 to leave him a long way down the leaderboard.
Amateur Abel Eduard leads that one at -3.
PETER FINCH UPDATE...
Peter Finch made it to Final Qualifying a year ago, but he might need something on the back nine at Lindrick to get there again.
He's currently even thru 10. Not out of it, by any means, but he may need a birdie or two. Samuel Potter is the clubhouse leader at -4.
Following drive is whipped through the ball with recoil. The ball ends up in the straw on the left but wedges onto the green and a solid two putt keeps us level.E thru 10 pic.twitter.com/ahqhn79udPJune 22, 2026
IN THE FAMILY
We have not one, not two, but three brothers playing a Craigielaw today - Scots Oliver, Cameron and Samuel Mukherjee.
Oliver is the only one to finish so far. He did well, too, with a four-under 67 to leave him in the clubhouse in T5.
It's maybe not that much of a surprise he is so far up the leaderboard - he holds the course record of 60. He was a lip-out away from a 59, too.
FEAR IN CONTROL
At Bearwood Lakes, where rising star Kris Kim carded a one under 71 earlier, his Wentworth Club teammate, the brilliantly named Reggie Fear, now tops the leaderboard after finishing on -4.
By the way, we should know very soon just how many qualifying places are allotted to each venue. The last of the tee times is in the next few minutes, where Final Qualifying slots will be confirmed soon after.
BRYAN TICKING ALONG NICELY
George Bryan is going along nicely enough at Hesketh. He's -2 after 13, just one back of current leader, Australian amateur Abel Eduard.
THE OTHER MCDONALD-O'BRIEN
Isla McDonald-O'Brien was in the Great Britain & Ireland team for the Curtis Cup earlier in the month. She was on the losing team on that occasion, but can her brother, Rory, get a step closer to The Open today?
He played at Enville earlier and finished on -1 to leave him T8.
GOLF MONTHLY MAN'S VERDICT
Golf Monthly's very own Joe Ferguson shot a highly creditable +1 73 at Minchinhampton earlier, but it's not going to be enough to see him progress.
Here's his verdict on his day: "Meh, bit scruffy, couldn't buy a putt. Course was in exceptional condition. Roasting hot, but a really cool atmosphere with plenty of spectators about. Looks like -2 or -3 will be the number here. Super fun experience but the dream over for another year!"
He made five bogeys and four birdies, including two in a row to finish.
FROM ONE GOLF MONTHLY STAFFER TO ANOTHER
Sam De'Ath is the other Golf Monthly staffer in regional qualifying. He was playing at North Hants.
He shot an even-par 70 including four birdies, two bogeys and one double.
That leaves him in T8 just now. And the number of spots available to Final Qualifying? Eight.
Still lots of golf to be played there, with plenty still out on the course.
JOE'S DAY AT MINCHINHAMPTON...
Here are a few nice images from Joe Ferguson's day at Minchinhampton...

We now have confirmation of how many qualifying places are available at each course...

- Moor Park - 7
- North Hants - 8
- Rochester & Cobham Park - 8
- The Island - 8
YOUTUBER UPDATE
Peter Finch could be about to make it to Final Qualifying for the second consecutive year. He was one under thru 13. Rick Shiels isn't faring as well though at four over thru four at Caldy.
TOUCH AND GO FOR FINCH
Peter Finch continues to tease us at Lindrick. He's now back to even after a bogey at 14. Will he do it? There are eight spots available and, currently, his score would see him into just above the line by one.
A lacklustre third sees Pete’s ball drift right into the greenside bunker. He splashes out but leaves too much to be done with the putter. Two taps makes bogeyE thru 14 pic.twitter.com/ZlXCPBIHvgJune 22, 2026
124 PLACES AVAILABLE
There are 124 final qualifying places across the 16 venues today, so all to play for as we await further news on the likes of Peter Finch, Rick Shiels, Jimmy Bullard et al.
NO JOY FOR JAIME
Spanish amateur Jaime Montojo made it the 2024 Open at Royal Troon through Final Qualifying.
He was at Hesketh hoping to reach the next stage again, but it's not to be. He finished +3 to sit outside the qualifying spots.
OVER AND OUT FOR JAMES WILTSHIRE
Another popular golf YouTuber is James Wiltshire. Like Golf Monthly's Joe Ferguson, he played at Minchinhampton. Also like Joe, he finished +1 to leave him outside the Final Qualifying places. Maybe next year!
FORMER CRICKETER COMES UP SHORT
Is there any sport former Somerset cricketer Peter Trego hasn't tried? He also had a spell as a goalkeeper at a semi-professional level, and today he's been at Minchinhampton. It didn't quite work out - he shot 80, but fair play for getting that far.
WELL DONE, GEORGE BRYAN!
George Bryan is in a great position to reach Final Qualifying. The best, actually. He finished -3 at Hesketh to move into a tie for the lead!
NOW OR NEVER FOR PETER FINCH
Peter Finch's day has taken a turn for the worse. He's now +2 and needs something on the final two holes for a chance of a playoff. A birdie would do it, but it needs to come soon.
Pete finds his wayward tee shot on the par 4 sixteenth, but is forced to take an unplayable. Third shot is fairway medicine. Fourth onto the green. Fifth doesn’t drop. Sixth does.+2 thru 16 pic.twitter.com/ozg8GJZFRcJune 22, 2026
PLAYOFF CHANCE FOR BOXER'S SON
John Conteh is a former WBC light-heavyweight boxing champion, but his son, James, is trying to make a name for himself in golf.
He has given himself a chance as well. James is T7 at Moor Park after a two-under 70.
That leaves him in the final qualifying spot and the possibility of a playoff.
BAD LUCK, PETER!
It's not to be for Peter Finch. He closes with a par to finish on +2.
Missed the green, but what a way to end it… dropping a bomb for par on the last hole 👏+2 thru 18 pic.twitter.com/OHWwStcUniJune 22, 2026
MORE ON GEORGE BRYAN...
George Bryan's three under 68 at Hesketh leaves him on the cusp of Final Qualifying. His round included six birdies and he's currently tied at the top of the leaderboard.
SO CLOSE, SAM!
Our second Golf Monthly staffer in regional qualifying was Sam De'Ath, who was playing at North Hants.
He finished with an even-par 70 to give himself a chance, but has since slipped to T11 meaning he'll just miss out. Here's what he had to say:
"Left a few out there but a solid knock after 36 holes yesterday of golf in the heat. Played really solid, course was in great shape."
On his double bogey on the 4th hole, he said: "Was in fairway trap with awful lie, didn't want to leave it in there and semi-bladed it long from 90 yards which was dead!"
LOOKING GOOD FOR PRO
Robert Dinwiddie is one of the pros trying to make it to Final Qualifying. The former Challenge Tour winner has given himself a good chance, too.
At North Hants, he is fifth after a two-under round of 68.
ABORN AHEAD
An amazing round from Edmondstown amateur Liam Abom at The Island means he'll surely reach final qualifying. He made 10 birdies on the way to a 64 to lead the way.
WAITING GAME FOR GEORGE BRYAN...
Not final yet but leading midway through regional qualifying!! pic.twitter.com/Yw9cT4FsdKJune 22, 2026
NEVER MIND, RICK!
Rick Shiels' challenge is done. He finished with a four-over 76 to miss out, joining Peter Finch as another big-name YouTuber not quite able to do enough. Next time, Rick!
FINDING TIME FOR FANS...
Well done to George Bryan and Rick Shiels for finding time for the fans after their rounds...
The round may be over, but there's always time for the fans.George Bryan and Rick Shiels after Regional Qualifying.@bryanbrosgolf @RickShielsPGA pic.twitter.com/GEgIw7g77rJune 22, 2026
NOT TO BE, JIMMY
Former Premier League soccer star Jimmy Bullard won't be heading to Final Qualifying. He shot a one-over 72 at Rochester and Cobham Park to sit T17 at the moment.
FORMER SOCCER STAR FALLS SHORT
Another former soccer player hoping to reach Final Qualifying was Peter Odemwingie. Unfortunately for the PGA professional, he never really looked like making it, finishing +12 at Enville.
PRO IN THE MIX AT MINCHINHAMPTON
Pro Oliver Farr, who played in The Open in 2022 and 2023, is joint-top at Minchinhampton. He'll have to wait to see if it's enough though - lightning has suspended play.
LOCKE FINDS THE KEY
Sam Locke was The Open low amateur at the 2018 tournament, and he's looking good for a return.
At Kilmarnock (Barassie), he has carded a five-under 67 to share the lead.
ANOTHER PRO LOOKING GOOD
Nowadays, Irish player Alex Maguire can usually be found on the Clutch Pro Tour, but he has played in The Open before, in 2023, while the same year he represented Great Britain & Ireland in the Walker Cup.
Today, he's been at The Island hoping to make it to Final Qualifying. Eight places are on offer, and he's currently second after a round of 66.
THINGS BEGINNING TO TAKE SHAPE
It's now just turned 7pm in the UK, and things are starting to take shape at the 16 courses. Anything could still happen, of course, but at the moment, one of the headline stories is the fact George Bryan appears to be heading to Final Qualifying.
The American remains T1 at Hesketh.
REACTION FROM PETER FINCH
Peter Finch has given his verdict on missing out on Final Qualifying. You can read it here.
And with that… The Open Qualifying for 2026 has ended in disappointment 😥 BUT not a devastating oneI shot 72 (+2) at @LindrickGC, missing out on a playoff by a couple of shots. I played very consistently throughout the round with a few birdies and a few bogies. However,… pic.twitter.com/YIqCPz9IjMJune 22, 2026
TIGER'S OPEN CHARGE
There was a Tiger playing today, too. No, not that one. German Tiger Christensen, who competes on the HotelPlanner Tour, finished T4 at Minchinhampton to give himself a great opportunity. His Open debut came in 2023.
PLAYOFF ALERT
There's a playoff at Kilmarnock (Barassie), with four players - Dominic Bradburn, Paul McKechnie, Mark Young and Cameron Johnstone - competing for the final place.
COURSE RECORD AT CRAIGIELAW!
Craig Howie, of the Tartan Pro Tour, has shot a 10-under 61 at Craigielaw to beat the previous course record by two. He finished in style, too, with an eagle!
BACK UNDERWAY AT MINCHINHAMPTON
After a suspension of around 90 minutes because of lightning, they're back underway at Minchinhampton. Owen Edwards, Ellis Bright and Oliver Farr currently share the lead in the Cotswolds.
NO TIME TO REST
Clutch Pro Tour pro Jake Hapgood recently put out a message on Instagram explaining after a busy schedule he'll take a rest after Regional Qualifying. He might not get long to reset though. He's T3 at The Island to leave him very likely to make Final Qualifying in eight days' time!

It's official, YouTuber George Bryan is heading to Final Qualifying. The Hesketh qualifiers are confirmed. Byran led the way with Abel Eduard, with others joining them being Neil Williams, Bryan Hughes, Simon Lucas, Andrew Haswell, Daniel Wilson and Timothy Ford.
BITTERSWEET FOR PLAYER
At Hesketh, there would have been a playoff, but one of the players in T6, Jason Dransfield, had to head off to the airport to go on his honeymoon, meaning the three in T6 went through automatically!
ROCHESTER & COBHAM PARK QUALIFIERS IN
At Rochester & Cobham Park, Haiden Matos, Joshua Bristow, Jacob Hassan, Tom Sherreard, Zane Scotland, James Heard, Todd Adcock and Justin Chenu all qualify without a playoff.
BEARWOOD LAKES QUALIFIERS
Here are the eight players through at Bearwood Lakes:
Henry Daly, Reggie Fear, Timothy Shin, Tommy Obergan, Nicolas Calvet, Jonathan Hobson, Taylor Paul and Callum Davison.
CRAIGIELAW QUALIFIERS
Now we know who has made it to Final Qualifying from Craigielaw:
Craig Howie, Erik Johansson, James Steven, Jackson Bell, Jordan Sundborg, Aidan O'Hagan and Christopher Edge
ROCK THROUGH AT ENVILLE
The ever-popular Robert Rock is among the Enville qualifiers having come through a playoff. He'll be joined by Haydn McCullen, Haraldur Magnus, Charlie Salter, Ryan Brooks, Ben Jenks, Jayden Phipps and James Thompson.
KILMARNOCK (BARASSIE) QUALIFIERS
We needed a playoff at Kilmarnock, where Mark Young progressed. He's joined by John M Vogelpohl, Craig Lee, Graeme Robertson, Sam Locke, Robbie Morrison and Jack Broun heading to Final Qualifying.
LINDRICK DONE
By my reckoning, we still have nine qualifiers to confirm. And just like that, there's Lindrick.
Samuel Potter wins with Ben Hall, George Mason, Sam Rook, Josh McAspurn, James Whatley, Keir Stockdale and playoff winner Nicholas Raybould heading to Final Qualifying too.
CHART HILLS REGIONAL QUALIFIER FINISHES
They're coming thick and fast now - as you'd expect at past 9pm UK time. Next up, it's Chart Hills, where seven places were available.
Taking them are Charles Huntzinger, Charlie Dubiel, Adrian Soriano, Oliver Daws, Luke Jenkins, Ryan Boyns and Max Moseley, who won a playoff.
EPIC PLAYOFF SETTLES GOG MAGOG QUALIFIER
We had a huge playoff at Gog Magog, where 10 were fighting for one place. In the end, it went to Josh Rudkin. He'll be joined by Giles Evans, Arron Edwards-Hill, Laurie Owen, Robert Holden, James Biggs, Michael Chambers and Sam Epstein.
DINWIDDIE THROUGH AT NORTH HANTS
Challenge Tour winner Robert Dinwiddie is one of eight through at North Hants.
He's joined by Robbie Flower, Zach Murray, Angus Flanagan, Oliver Martin, Charlie Preston, Jack Kelly and Egor Zotov.
FERNDOWN FINISHES
At Ferndown, we're finished too with Tom Sloman the winner, to be joined by Ryan Harmer, Joshua Davies, Michael Bullen, Paul Hendriksen, Ben Evans, Joseph Buenfeld and Jake Bolton.
THE FINAL FOUR
We started with 16 regional qualifiers, now we're down to four - Caldy, the weather-affected Minchinhampton, Moor Park and The Island.
Very soon, we'll know all the players heading to Final Qualifying from the initial list of over 2,000 hopefuls.

Eight are through at Caldy. They are Matthew Tottey, Joseph Pagdin, Ashley Williams, Joseph Dodd-Berry, Marcus Mohr, Luke Woods, Tom Parker-Thompson, Jason Renton. Three to go!
MINCHINHAMPTON QUALIFIERS CONFIRMED

Through in the Cotswolds are Owen Edwards, Tyko Tuohimaa, Ellis Bright, Oliver Farr, Tiger Christensen, Nikolas Tyminski, Adam Curtis and Jack Cope.
THE ISLAND QUALIFIERS
At The Island, eight went through, They are Liam Abom, Alex Maguire, Cian Geraghty, Jake Hapgood, Patrick Foley, Jordan Boles, Ruaidhri McGee and Christoph Bleier.
MOOR PARK CONFIRMS END OF REGIONAL QUALIFYING!
Now we just wait on Moor Park, where seven places are up for grabs. And just like that, the results are in.
Connor O'Brien, Victor Veyret, Markus Braadlie, Mike Toorop, Luke Goddard, Andres Gallegos and Harley Smith are the final seven to make it.
THANKS FOR READING!
That wraps things up for a long and entertaining day of Regional Qualifying. Now, the 124 who made it can get ready to do it all again (next time over 36 holes) in Final Qualifying on June 30th!
