South Florida prosecutors have decided to drop the computer hacking charge against a 29-year-old OnlyFans model who was accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend in a Miami condo in 2022. The charge was dismissed after a circuit judge ruled that the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office violated attorney-client privilege by confiscating text messages and emails between the model, her parents, and her attorneys.
The model, who goes by the name Courtney Clenney, still faces a second-degree murder charge and has been held without bond since August 2022. Her parents, who were also charged with hacking, had their charges dropped as well.
Defense attorney Jude Faccidomo, representing the Clenneys in the hacking case, argued that the State Attorney’s Office should recuse itself from the murder case due to the breach of attorney-client privilege. The office has not responded to inquiries about whether they will step down from the murder case.
Clenney, previously known as Courtney Tailor on social media platforms, admitted to killing her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, citing self-defense. She claimed that Obumseli was abusive, leading to a violent altercation that ended in his death.
Investigators found that Clenney had given Obumseli's computer to her parents after the stabbing. Text messages recovered by detectives revealed discussions between the parents about gaining access to the computer.
The case has raised questions about legal ethics and the handling of sensitive information in criminal proceedings. The defense maintains that the breach of attorney-client privilege undermines the integrity of the prosecution's case.
The legal proceedings surrounding Courtney Clenney's case continue to unfold as she faces the serious charge of second-degree murder in connection with the tragic events that transpired in April 2022.
