Only Fools and Horses stars Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst don't speak anymore

They may have been one of the most iconic duos from the telly - but fans will be gutted to learn that Only Fools and Horses stars Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst no longer speak.

Viewers couldn't get enough of the bond between their much-loved characters, market trader siblings Del Boy and Rodney Trotter, in their heyday.

But Sir David has dropped the bombshell in a recent interview that the pair have fallen out of touch and he hasn't heard from his old work pal in years, with the 82-year-old admitting: "He's much more, how can I say, self-contained, perhaps, than he used to be. So, unfortunately, we don't see each other as much as I'd like to. But that's how things work out sometimes."

Only Fools and Horses ran from 1981 - 2003, with seven series in total and various sporadic Christmas specials.

The BBC sitcom was incredibly successful and ran with pride of place for over 20 years on the network, reports the Mirror.

Sir David and Nicholas haven't worked together since a one-off charity special in 2014 and speaking of their friendship, the Open All Hours legend admits he misses working alongside his old colleague.

Nicholas has largely kept a low profile following the death of his son Archie, who died from a brain haemorrhage caused by acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in 2020 at the age of just 20.

Sir David explained: "I miss it terribly. It wasn't like going to work. It was going to have some fun with your mates. We loved each other."

Sir David also joked that he still reprises his famous role of Del Boy when doing meet and greets with fans. He said: "I do morph into Del sometimes to make people laugh. I enjoy it.

Del Boy, Rodney and Grandad were made famous by David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst and Lennard Pearce in the BBC version of the classic show (BBC)

"I realise it's a pretty low shot but it makes life easier for me on occasion. When I meet people sometimes, they're a bit stiff and awkward to get on with."

Sir David has won countless awards and honours for his performance as Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses - from BAFTAs to Comedy Awards and topped a poll for Greatest TV Characters of all time in 2005.
