GURUGRAM: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), since its inception in 2017, has been facing a shortage of bidders for its projects, with many contractors, who TOI approached recently, saying that they are unwilling to work with the authority due to their issues with its third-party work verification requirement and the frequent transfers of its officials, leading to payment delays.
However, the GMDA has defended third-party verification and other moves, calling them necessary for quality work, but acknowledged that it has been floating the same tenders several times. The tender process, in turn, delays projects intended to benefit city residents and commuters, forcing them to grapple with issues for long.
