The New England Patriots are still among the most-disciplined teams in the NFL, despite recent struggles on the field.
A new report used data from NFLPenalties.com to compile the penalty statistics from each team over the last five seasons. The Los Angeles Rams came in at the top of the list with 440 total penalties since 2018. New England was third on the list with 448 penalties.
The Patriots have been on both ends of this spectrum. They drew 62 flags in the 2020 season, which was the fewest in the league. The 2022 season saw quite a juxtaposition, as New England had 104 flags thrown against them.
That number could decrease in 2023, as New England has a more organized direction with offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.
There has been instability within the Patriots organization over the past couple seasons. Nevertheless, discipline has remained a steadfast part of the Belichick era.
