The One Show presenter Alex Jones caused fits of laughter after questioning a wildlife expert on what people should do if they are stung by a certain sea creature. The production crew on Thursday's show could be heard howling with laughter during a discussion over how people should react if they are caught out by a jellyfish.
Alex, who was co-presenting with Roman Kemp, made a reference to a famous episode of the American sitcom Friends. This was then followed by a hilarious reaction from people in the studio.
The regular One Show presenter was referring to a scene in the comedy Friends, which many viewers will be familiar with, where the character Monica is stung by a jellyfish. To relieve the sting, one of the show's other main characters 'Chandler' urinates on her.

But wildlife expert Steve Backshall 'debunked the rumour' on the show. Steve appeared in a segment discussing unfamiliar sea creatures appearing on our coastlines during the warmer weather.
During the discussion about jellyfish, Alex asked the question: "What happens if we are stung?"
She then referred to the belief that urine may relieve the pain of the sting by joking: "Because we all know the old wives' tale. Is that what we do?"
After some giggling in the studio, Steve confirmed this was merely a myth. He answered: "You don't do a wee on it, no matter what Friends told you."
He then went on to explain exactly what to do. He said: "For the species that do sting, vinegar and hot water have been proven to be pretty effective."
