One person has been taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash on the A1.
At 7.30am on Wednesday, it was reported that a three vehicle collision had occurred on the A1 southbound western bypass near Team Valley. One lane was closed causing rush hour tailbacks for motorists on their way towards Newcastle.
And while no serious injuries have been reported, one person involved has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead as a precaution.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the A1 southbound near Team Valley shortly after 7.30am this morning.
"We dispatched one ambulance crew who, after checking all involved, transported one patient to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital."
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "At around 7.30am today (Wednesday) police received a report of a collision involving three cars on the A1 southbound between Lobley Hill and Team Valley exits.
"Emergency services attended the scene where thankfully no serious injuries were reported. Two lanes were partially blocked but the road has since been cleared."
