A mum who craved KFC Krushems during her pregnancy has given birth to one of the UK's first New Year babies.
Sionie Neale and Connor Broadbent said it was a surprise that little Connie Elizabeth Broadbent arrived on New Year's Day as she was not due until January 6.
The 22-year-old mum said she had no warning signs and labour only lasted around one hour, Plymouth Live reports.
Connie was born at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth at 9am on January 1 and was midwife Joanna Wetherall's 100th delivery.
Her dad Connor was shocked to realise that Connie, who was 7lbs 6oz, was the first baby to be born at the hospital that day.
Mum Sionie said it was an amazing feeling to have Plymouth's first 2023 and described Connie as "a gem, good as gold", adding: " She only wakes up twice during the night.
She’s so content."
Sionie and Connor, who are seperated but co-parenting, also have a three-year-old daughter called Lottie who is loving being an older sister.
Connor, who works as a security officer, said that Lottie tries to cuddle her "all day, every day" and has even named a doll after baby Connie.
Sionie woke up at 6.30am on New Year's Day with a leg cramp and within five minutes started getting contractions two minutes apart.
Sionie's mum picked them up and took them to hospital and she was in full labour by 8am with Connie making her appearance at 9am.
Connor explained that he was meant to be working that day but his boss had told him to take the day off which worked out perfectly as Connie decided to surprise her parents by arriving early.
About their brief stay, Connor said: "They were amazing in hospital, they kept offering us tea, coffee and toast.
"The midwife was amazing, she was run off her feet, dealing with different people, but she was amazing."
Sionie echoed that saying how brilliant midwife Joanna had been.
The mum said she had a good pregnancy, her only craving being KFC Krushems and she is already feeling back to normal after the natural birth.
Connor added: "Me and Lottie popped the balloon to find out she was a girl. Lottie was happy, she wanted someone to play dolls with."
