Texas’ sparkling city by the sea has received national attention in recent months over ever-worsening conditions for residents deluged by years of drought restrictions. Predictions of an impending water emergency have been pushed back month by month thanks in part to some timely rains but still remain within arm’s reach. Governor Greg Abbott previously indicated a state takeover of the city may be necessary to handle its water woes.
