'One of the nicest guys you'll meet' - Niall Horan pays tribute to Jamal Edwards after sad passing

Irish superstar Niall Horan has paid tribute to Jamal Edwards after the music entrepreneur sadly passed away aged just 31.

The SBTV founder died on Sunday morning at the age of 31, and his mother, Loose Women co-host Brenda Edwards, confirmed he had passed away following a “sudden illness”.

On Monday night, a large group of fans gathered around a mural of Jama, which was recently erected, to console each other after his shock passing.

Earlier on Monday, former One Direction star Niall took to Twitter to express his condolences to Jamal's family.

He wrote: "Jamal. One of the nicest guys you’ll meet. Always so warm and easy to talk to. He was so Creative and forward thinking, always a step ahead of everyone else. X"

Jamal had a huge role in the careers of the likes of Jessie J and Dave, was awarded an MBE for services to music in 2014 and was an ambassador for the Prince's Trust, which helps young people set up their own businesses.

A statement from the MOBO Awards read: "We are deeply saddened to learn of Jamal Edwards passing.

"As the founder of SBTVonline, his groundbreaking work and legacy in British music and culture will live on.

"Our hearts and thoughts are with his friends and family."
