One man has been left in critical condition and a second man has been hospitalised following a "serious assault" in Kildare.
Shortly after 12:30am today, gardai and emergency services rushed to the Dublin Road in Monasterevin after receiving reports of an "altercation involving a group of people at the entrance of a premises". A man in his 20's was found unresponsive at the scene.
He was taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital and his condition is understood to be critical. A second man, aged in his 50's, was treated at the scene for apparent facial injuries and was taken to Portlaoise Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai have launched a probe into the assault and have preserved the scene for forensic examination. No arrests have yet been made.
A garda spokesman said: "An incident room has been established at Kildare Garda Station. Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward and for those with camera footage to make it available to them.
