If the disappointment of missing out on the loan signing of Arnaut Danjuma wasn't enough, the Dutch international has rubbed salt into Everton wounds by scoring on his Tottenham Hotspur debut.
In action for Antonio Conte's side in their FA Cup fourth round tie with Preston North End, Danjuma was deployed from the bench in 71st minute and was on target just 16 minutes later to round off a 3-0 victory for the Lilywhites.
Everton were, of course, closing in on the Villarreal star earlier this week, only for Tottenham to hijack the deal at the eleventh hour. Missing out on the 25-year-old has left some Blues frustrated, and this goal will have done little to ease the pain.

Danjuma's instant impact has topped off a chaotic week for the club, which has resulted in a number of twists and turns both on a transfer and managerial front. Even away from Everton, those formerly involved with the club have only been adding to the narrative of poor fortunate.
Duncan Ferguson's first game in charge of Forest Green Rovers ended with his side conceding twice in stoppage time to suffer a 2-1 defeat, meanwhile Besiktas last night secured a 3-0 win courtesy of goals from former Blue Cenk Tosun (2) and Dele.
Reacting to what has proven to be the latest surreal moment in a whirlwind period for the club, Everton fans have taken to Twitter attempting to make light of the situation.
