LUCKNOW: Police on Friday nabbed a man in connection with the attack on a whistleblower who blew the lid off an extortion racket at polytechnic bus and auto-rickshaw stop.
ADCP, east zone, Qasim Abidi said that on the basis of a complaint by Ritesh Kumar Dubey an FIR was lodged on Thursday under charges of dacoity, attempt to murder, rioting, rioting with armed weapons against Rishabh Rai, Viren Mishra and 10 unidentified persons.
“We have nabbed one of the accused and we are questioning him about the sequence of events. Efforts are on to identify the other accused persons,” the officer said. CCTV footages are also being scanned.
On April 9, Ritesh Dubey, Shyam Singh and Abhishek Rai had lodged a case against Ajeet Singh and Bhanu Singh, who were allegedly running an extortion racket at Polytechnic bus stand.
Irked over the FIR lodged against them, the accused persons attacked Ritesh on Thursday.
