RANIPET: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin congratulated a farmer in a village near Ranipet over telephone for encouraging his three daughters to clear police constable examinations and join the uniformed force.
He chose to congratulate him on the world women's day celebrations on Wednesday.
A release from the information and publicity department said the three daughters of D Venkatesan, 59, a farmer from Keezh Avathanam village, Arakkonam block, Ranipet district - V Preeti, 28, V Vaishnavi, 25, and the V Niranjini, 22 cleared the grade II police constable examinations conducted by the Tamil Nadu uniformed services recruitment board (TNUSRB) last year. The three siblings are presently undergoing training at different camps in Tiruvallur district.
"The chief minister chose the occasion of world women's day celebration to honour Venkatesan's dedication in encouraging his three daughters to work hard and crack the examination despite severe economic constraints and also for raising his daughters to face the world bravely and ensuring that they are financially self-sufficient. Venkatesan profusely thanked the chief minister," said the release.
The eldest of the siblings Preeti, a mother of two, cleared the examination in her first attempt while her sister Vaishnavi, a graduate in English literature, in her fourth attempt and the youngest sibling Niranjini, a graduate in physics, in her third attempt. Preeti discontinued studies after clearing Class 12.
Preeti has joined training at the camp office of Tiruvallur collector while Vaishnavi at Tiruvallur district juvenile justice board and Niranjini at a police station in Tiruvallur district.
