Chris Froome won the Tour de France for a fourth time on this day in 2017.

The Team Sky rider emerged victorious after Dylan Groenewegen sprinted to victory to beat Andre Greipel in Paris on the 21st and final stage.

The victory gave Froome his latest yellow jersey after Tour de France triumphs in 2013, 2015 and 2016.

“Each time I have won has been so unique, such a different battle to get to this moment,” Froome said.

“They are all so special but this will be remembered as the closest and most hard fought.”

Froome, who now races for Israel–Premier Tech, missed out on their eight-man roster for the Tour de France in 2023 and 2024.

The 39-year-old has struggled to recapture his form since he sustained serious injuries after a crash which left him in intensive care back in 2019.
